Fossil Dig | Dig Out Dinosaur Fossils

What kind of game is it?

A dinosaur fossil is buried in the rock. Brush away the sand, chip away the rock around it with a hammer, and carefully dig the fossil out without breaking it. It's a fossil digging game.

Chipping right along the edge of the fossil is a thrilling, steady-hands moment. The hammer gets smaller and more precise the closer you are to the fossil, so even young kids can dig one out if they go slowly and carefully.

How to play

  1. Use the brush to sweep away the sand. The shape of the fossil starts to show through.
  2. Use the hammer to trace over the dark brown rock around the fossil and chip it away.
  3. If the hammer hits the fossil, the fossil cracks. After 10 cracks it breaks, so be gentle near the edges. If it breaks, you can try the same fossil again.
  4. Clear away all the rock around it and the fossil is dug out! The fewer cracks, the more stars you get (no cracks at all means 3 stars).
  5. Every fossil you dig out goes into your fossil collection, and a new fossil becomes ready to dig.

Dinosaurs with thin tails or long necks have trickier edges, so they are harder to dig out. You can also play with a mouse. Your fossils and stars are saved for next time.
