Arere Dino | Dinosaur Museum Spot-the-Difference

Play

What kind of game is it?

A spot-the-difference game where you walk through the same dinosaur museum room again and again. If something is different from usual (an "Arere?", which means "Huh?" in Japanese), go back. If nothing is different, keep going. Start in Room 0 and get through Room 8 to reach the goal.

There are no ghosts, no jump scares and no scary sounds. Kurabe the museum guide looks after a bright, friendly museum, so kids who don't like scary games can play without worry.

How to play

  1. Look carefully at the usual museum room and remember it.
  2. If something is odd (an "Arere?"), press Back. If nothing is odd, press Next.
  3. If you are wrong, the answer is shown and you go back to the first room (Room 0).
  4. Get through Room 8 to reach the goal.
  5. Every Arere you find goes into your Arere Book, where you can compare it with the usual room.

Who it's for

Ages: 3 and up (some Areres change the words on the name signs, so young kids may want a grown-up to help)

Free. No sign-up, no download. Play in your browser on phone or computer. The sound is off when you start; tap the 🔇 button to turn it on.

Dinosaurs in the game

The museum room shows Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops and Stegosaurus, plus the flying reptile Pteranodon. There are 18 Areres to find in all: a dinosaur facing the wrong way, a dinosaur that has gone missing, a name sign with a typo, and more. Each dinosaur has its own page in our Dinosaur Encyclopedia (in Japanese).
